ENCOURAGING WORDS FROM PATTY STEWART: I want to encourage each of you to take small risks in your art journey and see what you can do that will help you grow as an artist. Enter a painting in a juried show. Try a new medium. Learn to paint a portrait. Take a new class. There are so many ways to stretch yourself and all of them require some level of risk taking.

The opening reception for our next AAWV exhibit has been confirmed for Sept 18, 2026 from 5pm - 7pm at Parkersburg Art Center. Your artwork must have been completed in the last 3 years, and must have never been exhibited at Parkersburg Art Center. We are advising everyone early!

AAWV NEW MEMBERSHIP: Our next new Member Jury session will be held January 10, 2026. The sessions are held quarterly and are done digitally. Applicants will send photos of 5 of their artworks, both front and back (to show they are wired), along with the application form and payment, either by check or Paypal on the AAWV website. • LOCAL ARTISTS NEEDED: Sarah Setran is looking for local artists to lead a guided acrylic painting class for the Cancer Community at the CAMC Cancer Center - Kanawha City on Tuesday, Feb 3, from 5pm - 7pm. This is a free, catered event for patients at every stage of the cancer journey and their family members to thrive, not just survive. Because the program is grant-funded, a modest flat fee will be offered to the artist who volunteers their time and expertise. MEMBERS RECOGNITION:
Melanie Myhre had 6 pieces of art accepted in the Simple Folk Exhibit at Tamarack, with one being sold. She also had 5 pieces accepted in the Small Packages Exhibit. In addition, Melanie has 3 pieces in the Dreamland show at Bloomfield Richwood. She participated in the Museum Sunday Event at Huntington Museum of Art, where she sold 2 original paintings. She has an upcoming show (title TBD) at Carnegie Hall, Friday, Sept 4th - Oct 30th. Congratulations, Melanie!
Connie Mae Moeller was accepted into Oil Painters of America in November. She has two paintings in the Dreamscapes Exhibit at Tamarack. Congratulations, Connie!
