I grew up in the small town of Madison, West Virginia, the daughter of a Baptist minister. I graduated from Alderson-Broaddus College and West Virginia University with degrees in biology and science. After teaching in public schools, I worked for the state higher education system and in my spare time, I pursued diverse creative activities such hand-weaving and photography. Upon retirement, I began to explore various painting techniques and found my passion for abstracts using color and texture.

Artistic Statement

From the time I played with crayons as a child, I have loved experimenting with colors and how they look together. A sunset with bright orange clouds in a lavender blue sky gives me a thrill. My abstract paintings are a result of my experiments with colors and textures, with a goal of evoking excitement and curiosity.
